Job Summary:

This unique role will be responsible for analyzing financial data, providing insights, and supporting strategic decision-making, while also managing the finance and accounting team, including the comptroller and support staff.

The position requires expertise in financial analysis, forecasting, leadership, and proficiency in Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategic Analyst:

  • Conduct financial analysis, including budget vs. actuals, variance analysis, and profitability assessments.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to senior management on trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with department heads and project managers to track project budgets and performance metrics.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for management and stakeholders.
  • Support the development of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct market research and industry benchmarking to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Participate in financial reviews and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date financial data in Deltek Vantagepoint software.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.
  • Assist in ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as assigned.

Finance Team Manager:

  • Manage and lead the finance and accounting team, including the comptroller and support staff.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the finance team members.
  • Oversee the entire finance and accounting function of the architecture design practice.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and providing insights to senior management.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and project managers.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to track project budgets, expenses, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, assisting in decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Support financial reporting to stakeholders, including owners, investors, and board members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, or related roles.
  • Previous experience managing a finance and accounting team is essential.
  • Experience in a similar position within an architecture design practice or professional services firm is an asset.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and provide insights.
  • Excellent proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and financial software applications.
  • Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint accounting software is essential.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex financial information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and contribute to business growth initiatives.
