Job Summary:
The BIM Lead will play a pivotal role in leading the implementation, management, and optimization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes across the firm's healthcare projects.
This position is distinct from the BIM Manager role and requires a deep understanding of BIM workflows, project coordination, and a strong focus on delivering high-quality BIM deliverables for complex healthcare projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of BIM standards, protocols, and best practices for healthcare projects in collaboration with project teams and BIM Managers.
- Oversee and manage the BIM coordination process for multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring efficient data exchange and clash detection.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) tailored to each healthcare project.
- Guide and mentor BIM Coordinators and other team members in BIM software, workflows, and project-specific requirements.
- Manage BIM content and libraries, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible for project teams.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on BIM models and datasets to ensure compliance with established standards and project requirements.
- Work closely with the BIM Managers to strategize and implement BIM-related process improvements and technological advancements.
- Coordinate with external partners, such as contractors and consultants, to facilitate BIM data exchange and collaboration.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve BIM-related issues efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in BIM for healthcare architecture.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate BIM deliverables into design presentations and client interactions.
- Participate in firm-wide BIM training initiatives and contribute to continuous learning and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in BIM coordination, with a majority of work on healthcare projects in Canada.
- Proven expertise in BIM software, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and BIM 360.
- Comprehensive understanding of BIM standards, protocols, and guidelines relevant to healthcare projects.
- Strong project coordination and team management skills, with experience in guiding and mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to address complex BIM-related challenges.
- Leadership qualities and a demonstrated track record of successful BIM coordination on healthcare projects.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification is a plus.
